A Plant-Based Picnic Guide

Creating a vegan picnic is a walk in the park because plant-based food options are practically spilling off of the supermarket shelves. You don’t ever have to worry about finding alternatives.

So whether you’re dreaming of a picnic that’s light and airy or one that’s laden with junk foods, I have got the perfect product and recipe ideas for you to enjoy!

Checklist

  • Cooler or ice pack: to keep your food fresh. Ice packs can be kept in the freezer and taken out just before you leave.
  • Picnic basket or bag: find something with several pockets and compartments, and make sure it’s sturdy.
  • Blanket: preferably a waterproof one.
  • Reusable containers: for storing food.
  • Reusable cutlery: bamboo is a great, sustainable option. Make an effort to avoid disposable cutlery.
  • Reusable water bottle: to stay hydrated! Opt for stainless steel as it’s easy to clean and sturdy.
  • Reusable cup: in case you brought a bottle of drink to share with others.
  • A bag: to store empty packaging.
  • Napkins & antibacterial handwash: to keep things clean and hygienic. Look out for cruelty-free and vegan hand wash.

Snack Ideas

Pretty much any convenient snack will work for a picnic, from crisps and biscuits to mixed nuts and fruit. Light and fruity drinks like kombucha are perfect because they taste heavenly, but they’re healthy, too. Fortunately, vegan-friendly convenience and snack foods are in abundance, which means you have plenty to choose from.

Picnic Recipes

The ideal picnic recipes will still taste and look good after spending time in a travel bag. Therefore, anything too complex and visually intricate might be ruined once you take a look in your Tupperware container! Picnic preparation can be as quick and easy as you like; you might prefer to stick with simple recipes like sandwiches and dips, or you might want to go all out with salads and baked goods.
