First Polish Dairy Company Goes Entirely Vegan

Polish dairy company Jogurty Magda is now officially vegan, and it will be only manufacturing 100 per cent plant-based products from now on.

Jogurty Magda is a family run business that has been producing yoghurts for three generations since 1991.

Three years ago the company launched its first plant-based brand Planton which features yoghurts, creams and drinks. Now, the business will focus only on plant-based dairy-free products made from coconut milk.

Magdalena Kubit, Managing Director of Jogurty Magda, said: “The decision to make Jogurty Magda a fully plant-based brand is a natural consequence of the continuous development of our product portfolio, which for more than two years has been dominated by yoghurt and cream based on coconut milk. Our products are for everyone. They end up on the tables of Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and consumers in other countries, who, for various reasons, want to limit the consumption of animal products, while not giving up their favourite flavours. I am glad that from now on the actions we take will be fully consistent.”

The brand invested in transforming its facility for dedicated plant-based production.

Jogurty Magda will also go through rebranding. The company will be now called Magda Roslinna (Magda Plant-Based) and will have a new logo.

The new brand aims to focus mainly on flexitarian customers.

More Polish consumers have been reducing meat and dairy consumption. Sales of dairy alternatives increased by 26 per cent in 2019. The numbers of shoppers buying vegan products such as plant-based butter, milk and yoghurts has increased during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Mintel, 20 per cent of Poles started perceiving the plant-based diet as more attractive during the pandemic. At the same time, 54 per cent of Poles believe that plant-based products are also better for the environment.
