World's Best Vegan Ice Cream And Doughnuts Are In Portugal

Scoop' n Dough - the vegan ice cream parlour located in the heart of Lisbon, scooped the award for Best Vegan Ice Cream in the World.

The shop, already widely known by many locals and international tourists for its unique vegan doughnuts, offers delicious dairy-free ice cream made from almonds, coconuts, cashews and oats. 

Family business & unique business concept

The business was founded in 2019 by two brothers, Jimite and Darchite, a doctor and a nutritionist. They came up with the idea of the company when Darchite became a vegan and couldn't find ice cream suitable for vegans in the city of Lisbon. At the time, both brothers who are passionate about vegan food decided to leave their daily jobs. They joined forces and dedicated themselves to making vegan doughnuts and frozen desserts. It took them three years to learn how to make the best versions of the products - the ideal doughnut dough and the perfect ice cream. That's how their unique concept was brought to life.

The best vegan doughnuts in the world

The latest award is not their first one. Previously, in 2020 the doughnuts were awarded the title of Best Vegan Donut in the World by Happy Cow - the global vegan restaurants guide website. 

The best vegan space in the world

In 2021, the shop was ranked as the 4th best vegan space in the world by TripAdvisor and included in the Best of the Best from a selection of 25 restaurants. The same year, Scoop' n Dough were finalists in the Gastronomic Tourism category in the National Tourism Award in Portugal.

The brothers' duo now aims to expand their business. They opened a new location at Restauradores, and they run a vegan kiosk at El Corte Inglês- the largest retail company on Iberian Penisula. They also plan to open a store in Cascais by the end of this year.
